VP of Agency Strategy & Development, Buzzfeed
Jonathan Perelman is the VP of Agency Strategy and Industry Development at BuzzFeed. At BuzzFeed he works closely on all aspects of the business, with a focus on educating advertising agencies on the BuzzFeed platform and ad products. Jonathan is also developing strategy for BuzzFeed’s international expansion.
Prior to BuzzFeed, Jonathan spent six years at Google, most recently as the Global Lead for Industry Relations. He was responsible for brand identity initiatives and relationship management within the advertising and media industries. This included aligning Google’s business and public policy priorities and working on the recently closed FTC investigation. Google’s Operating Committee awarded the prestigious OC Award to Jonathan for his work on mergers and acquisitions. Prior to Google, Jonathan worked at Financial Services firm, Unifund, and also was the Deputy Finance Director on Cory Booker’s 2002 Mayoral run in Newark, NJ. The campaign was captured in an Academy Award nominated film, Street Fight, released in 2005.
Jonathan is a Sr. Fellow at the Center for the Digital Future, at the USC Annenberg School. In addition, he serves on the board of Advertising Week, Internet Week, Ad:Tech, along with other industry groups. He’s also an advisor to Cory Booker, several start-ups and a number of international think tanks.
Jonathan is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a BA in political science. He lives in New York City with his wife, Alexandra, and two sons.
ALAN SCHULMAN
Chief Creative Officer, SapientNitro, NY
Alan Schulman serves as chief creative officer for SapientNitro’s New York office. As CCO, Alan drives SapientNitro’s creative solutions for both digital and physical experiences as well as stewarding SapientNitro’s NY-based AOR and iAOR creative relationships.
Prior to joining SapientNitro, Alan served as SVP creative director at McCann-Erickson NY, leading traditional and digital advertising for such brands as Johnson & Johnson, L’Oreal, Coca-Cola, Microsoft and Sony Pictures. In 2004, Alan co-founded Brand New World, a cutting edge creative shop that specialized in emerging platforms, including iTV, mobile and digital out-of-home (OOH). The company attracted the attention of imc2, where Alan went on to serve as executive creative director leading digital programs and emerging media deployments for such global brand marketers as Procter & Gamble, The Coca-Cola Company, Samsung, GSK and Mars.
Alan has been called one of the “Wizrds of Digital” by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and is the recipient of numerous awards across the digital marketing and advertising industry including being named Digital Creative ALL STAR by OMMA Magazine in 2011.
He currently serves as a member of the New York Media & Marketing Technologies Council and the Advisory Board of DPAA – the Digital Place Based Advertising Association. He is a former member of the Board of Governors of the NY Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (EMMYS), the 4A’s Advanced Television Committee, and the Agency Advisory Boards of TiVO, Tremor Video & The Interactive Advertising Bureau. He was recently published in the Harvard Business Review’s “Future of Advertising” initiative.
TIM MALBON
Founding Partner, Made by Many
Tim is a founding partner of Made by Many. He’s from the internetz but has also had previous lives in advertising and stand-up comedy. Since 1999, Tim has busied himself in making innovative digital products for start-ups, corporate clients, brands and government. He was once included in a list of Revolution Magazine’s ‘Future 50′ – the “marketers, authors, entrepreneurs, and thinkers who will shape the digital industry of tomorrow”. It also called him “disruptive and challenging”, which he’s still working on. Tim also sits on the Advisory Board of Boulder Digital Works at Colorado University, and is a judge of The Webby Awards
Made by Many creates new digital products and services instead of marketing campaigns. The company uses a hybrid approach of Lean start-up thinking, service design approaches and Agile software development to validate and iterate new value propositions in real time with customer feedback and live data.
Made by Many’s clients include Skype, Adidas, Universal Music, Swisscom, ITV, Weve (the UK’s version of the Isis Wallet), and the UK government.
GARETH KAY
Chief Strategy Officer, Goodby, Silverstein & Partners
Gareth is the Chief Strategy Officer at Goodby Silverstein & Partners. He leads a diverse group of seventy strategists and is charged with evolving the strategy discipline to help make it more likely that we make stuff people care about. He keeps himself honest by leading strategy on the Google and Cisco accounts.
Prior to joining GSP, Gareth was the Head of Planning at Modernista! where he introduced and built the planning discipline, and oversaw the strategic direction of all accounts including Cadillac, HUMMER, Napster and (RED).
Gareth began his career in the UK and worked at TBWA, dfgw and Lowe where he was lucky enough to help develop award winning communications for a diverse bunch of clients including Waterstone’s, fcuk, the BBC, Reebok and Unilever. He graduated from Oxford University with an MA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics.
Gareth serves on the boards of Boulder Digital Works and the VCU Brandcenter, and sits on the Google Creative Leadership Council where he is the only ‘non-creative’. He is one of very few planners in the industry to have judged leading strategy (Jay Chiat), creative (Clio) and effectiveness (EFFIE and inaugural Cannes Effectiveness Lions) awards. He has been recognized by his peers as the most respected planning director in the US
Gareth is a co-founder of the non-profit ‘Planning For Good’, a virtual entity that harnesses the collective intelligence and amazing minds of planners around the world to help address the business and communication challenges of non-profits. He writes the blog on brands and communication, ‘Brand New’ (http://www.garethkay.com), and passionately believes that there has never been a more exciting time to work in advertising.

Film Guru. Viral Marketer. Community Builder. Some days, Dan can be found surfing, climbing, or hiking off the beaten path. Most days, he is saved by rescue helicopter.
He loves films. He loves startups. He eats heftily. When he’s not outdoors, he heads up Mentalpez’s digital and viral marketing efforts. Recently, he was named one of Forbes Magazine’s 30 under 30 in marketing and advertising, and one of the top six community managers of 2012 by Mashable.
Before co-founding Mentalpez, Dan led community building and marketing efforts for Pierre Omidyar’s (eBay) latest startup, Honolulu Civil Beat. Before that, Dan worked as the Director of Digital for Hawaii’s largest and most prestigious advertising agency. There he designed and managed marketing campaigns for teams at Microsoft, Sprint, Marriott, and Farmers Insurance.

CEO, Carrot Creative
Mike Germano is the co-founder and CEO of Carrot Creative. Carrot is a pioneer in social networking, having ushered major brands such as Red Bull, Ford and MLB into the space. Today, the agency continues to ideate, design and build social campaigns for brands including Wilson, MTV, Home Depot, Target and Disney.
Passionate about creating communities, Mike played a founding role in creating Digital Dumbo and sits on the board for the New York Digital District. Mike has invested in several digital companies and acts as an advisor for a variety of startups. He is also an official advisor to the NFL, coaching players on their social presence.
Mike received national attention in 2005 when he became one of the youngest elected officials, and the first to use social media to gain office.
Mike’s proudest accomplishment is never having written a resume.

Sharon Toerek focuses her legal practice at Licata & Toerek on intellectual property law, advising clients across the United States on trademark, copyright, trade secret, non-competition, and other intellectual property and business law issues.

MATT COREY

For more than 17 years, Matt has focused his passion and energy on growing brands and building multi-channel businesses through progressive marketing, digital, and social strategies.
Matt has been a pioneer in launching new products and software solutions including being the first retailer in the U.S. to launch Bazaarvoice’s ratings and reviews in 2005 with Golfsmith, and the first-ever interactive “home visualizer” design center for HomeDepot.com in 2002 in partnership with Adobe Scene7 that is still live today.
Prior to Mass Relevance, Matt was the Chief Marketing Officer at Golfsmith, the largest specialty golf retailer in the U.S. During his seven years at Golfsmith, Matt led the way in turning Golfsmith from a club making brand into a world-class multi-channel brand and more than doubling Golfsmith’s eCommerce business. He was also the VP of Marketing and E-Commerce for The Bombay Company, and a marketing and e-commerce leader at The Home Depot helping the company launch its first-ever e-commerce web site in 2000.
Matt is an active social marketer and one of the top chief marketing officers on Twitter where he posts via @mattcorey. Matt got his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida (Go Gators) and his masters in business from Georgia Tech.
Founder & CEO, GMD Studios
Brian Clark is the Founder/CEO of experience design pioneers GMD Studios, a co-founder of indieWIRE, an independent film and music producer, and an evangelist of the power of experience design for working across multiple platforms. A 19-year-old experience design firm, GMD Studios pursues projects and ventures of their own while also helping to drive innovation in storytelling for major brands like Newscorp, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Ford and Audi. Clark’s old enough to remember having to explain to people what the Internet was and why they should care about it. He lives in New York, but keeps a foot in Orlando (where he’s lived for 14 years).

Kyle Monson is a founding partner and chief creative at Knock Twice, a tech marketing agency in New York and San Francisco. Kyle got his start as a journalist and editor, working for almost six years at PC Magazine before becoming content strategy director at JWT in 2009. Since then, he has provided his editorial expertise to a wide range of content campaigns, and pioneered new forms of brand journalism, influencer marketing, and native advertising. Knock Twice provides messaging and content strategy to some of the world’s biggest tech brands, and helps launch some of the smallest startups, too. In his spare time, Kyle frequents the dive bars of NYC with his two bands, and the playgrounds of NYC with his two kids.
